EFR SUMMER 2009
Summer activities at EFR are varied and many.  Children's camps run almost every week for half days.  They are for all level of experiences and ages.  EFR is able to tailor the program thanks to the volunteers that provide individualized attention.  There was also three very successful off site trips this year.  Firstly in June the second annal Ladies Retreat to Waterton.  In end of July back to Yaha Tinda.  The third a trip into the Badlands near Trochu. (sadly no photos to share).     It was an incredible summer of riding fun.

SUMMER HALF DAY CAMPS
Red was this years color.  It was indeed a red banner summer!  The camps were overful of energetic, enthusiastic students lead by a stellar group of volunteers

Each day's learning built on the day before.  Every student worked at their own unique level.  Horsemanship skills concentrated  on understanding about why a horse acts like he does, how can we two legged ones effectively communicate with him, what does he eat, how do we care for him and when do we need help.  Riding skills stressed slow is really fast and the lighter the better.
Each day a new activity took place.  Included were; Branding, anyone on property got a nice EFR paint brand somewhere on their person..one day even the dog got branded; Photos, each student recieved a take home memory; Horse painting, students were taught why natives painted their horses and asked to create a pictorial of their own; Picnic day, everyone brought goodies to share.
Of course a lot of time was spent riding!

What a fun summer for all.
Last year it was so much fun doing a boots fashion photo that we decided it must be repeated

What a classy bunch of riders.
LADIES WATERTON RETREAT
Even though the weather was dull, wet and cool  everyone managed to enjoy all the activities offered on this special weekend.

Along with the hours spent riding there was time spent in guided thought, drumming, creation of blessing ribbons and feathers and eating huge amounts of delicous food.

YA HA TINDA  2009
Once again this beautiful country captivated us.  This trip is all about being with our horses.  Living, eating , sleeping and riding.

LOAD AND GO
Between May and October of 2009 EFR increased the number of half day and full day off property riding.

Here are just a few photos of the land we explored.
